Wednesday Opinion

My opinion is that it is very cold.
It has been very cold for a few days but last night, though the temp offered was no worse than before, it was the coldest so far.  Quite why this is I canny say.  However, the heat has been on, it is still cold when it is off, and it will be like this for a few more days I think.  This may be caused by clear skies above (can you get clear skies below?) and what cloud there is happens t be freezing.  Possibly freezing fog tonight, oh goody.
Rail strikes abound, post strikes continue, and the nurses are about to join in yet the papers are full of Harry and Meghan.  Yesterday it was 'Sickly Come Dancing,' and tomorrow more slagging off the workers.  It is interesting that no-one makes sensible comments about the reasons for the strikes, the media emphasise greedy workers want money, they ignore the cuts to their pensions, amendments to work hours and conditions, and support one side only, with closed ears to argument.  Cleary the failing government is enjoying this.  They consider this will win them votes, but those have already been lost.
Nothing else matters today.
The 'coming of the season of goodwill' has caused ructions in shops everywhere, crowded shops, hassled people, few trains and buses crowded also, weather cold, wet, damp and dreary as winter always is, and money we don't have flowing out from every pore.  Just think how much credit has been spent on a wide variety of greedy credit cards?  How will that ever be repaid?  Greedy banks will take the money but care nothing about you!
Happy Christmas...

I'm noticing that people generally aren't talking about politics anymore except to slag off the government. They really are unpopular, proved by the fact that so many of the worst and most extremist ones are announcing that they won't stand again for Parliament. Which is great, but I hope they don't think this means they are going to be getting away with their crimes. It also leaves them free to pinch even more from the public purse while the going is good. Do you think Starmer should be embracing proportional representation, Adullamite? I'm not sure what I think.

If successive governments could have sold off the weather they would have done so. Every utility in the hands of foreign powers and companies, shareholders coining it in while sewage flows in the waterways and families go cold....and then have the cheek to say that unions striking for a fair wage are holding the country to ransom.

Hasn't some Tory peer who made a killing on PPE made a bolt for Honduras?

And I hold out no hopes for the future with Starmer and his acolytes.....

Keep warm and don't go out when it is icy underfoot.

Jenny, People are indeed sick of the corrupt government, though a great number will still vote Tory! The rats are running, but will the incoming government chase the lost cahs? As for Keir, his refusal to know what a woman is remains a block, his attacks on migrants and his refusal to support nurses and strikers is a big wound. Chasing Tory votes, forgetting workers, not a good idea.
PR is a good thing if done properly, but so many types to fight over.

Fly, It is not the selling off so much as the failure to make it work. Almost all privatisation has failed, or just been corrupt. So much has already been brought back under control, and only the accountants are making money.
Ah PPE, we have tons stored at £2 million a day, which is not fot for work!
