Where Did They Come From..?
I suppose everyone has a drawer full of cables. Quite how I gathered so many I am not sure, I suspect more lie under this desk but I am afraid to look.
Some of these must belong to old computers, others to aged phones or even older computers. The old printer must account for some but there are more than I expected. Some have seen much use, others remain in the plastic bags, unopened and without a reason for existence. Colour coding the cables does not seem to have happened early on, 'you can have any colour cable you like as long as it's black' appears to be the norm. Each new, overpriced, item comes with cables, that explains why so many are still untouched. However if I throw one out it is inevitable that tomorrow I will be looking for one so I had better wrap them nicely and hide elsewhere, possibly in the cupboard outside the door. Actually, that might not be a good idea, I just remembered there is a box full of more such cables and plugs in there! I shall later spend some time untangling these and that makes me think of a great party game, 'tidy the cables!' Have several piles off cables lying there and see who untangles them first. They deserve a prize.
In times past you looked a a large round copper coin and found on one side the King or Queen's Head and on the other Britannia sitting there planning to steal other peoples countries. On other coins such as the three pence piece you would find a portcullis for reasons I do not comprehend, possibly referring to Parliament perhaps. Anyway while Britannia, now decked out in charity shop clobber, still retains her place on some coins there is a wide range of events, books, and cut up flags found elsewhere.
For reasons that escape me Beatrix Potter is found on may coins with her story book characters also to be found. Some of these sell at high prices, not the ones I find, and others just keep doing the rounds passing through many hands and soon forgotten without anyone looking at them. I suppose those who write stories could make a tale about a 50 pence piece and its travels. Some feature the flags of the Home nations, or at least bits of them for reasons that are unclear, artistic perhaps? One or two of the £2 coins have excellent images of Great War Battleships offered in 2014 to commemorate the Great War itself. Very good I say. Now of course I will have to make more effort checking my wealth to see if one of the rare Beatrix Potter characters appears, it might make me rich.

Monday Prattle
How nice to get out in the sunshine again. Much of the time I have been holed up in this aroma filled dwelling so walking in the park has been a delight. I realise we have had enough Daffodils but in truth there are billions of them lying around at the moment, one of the councils better ideas, and each park and green space has a variety of them livening up the day. These ones poking through the park bench are good I thought.
The introduction of the new Pound coin that begins tomorrow caused me to examine the fancy designs on the coins in my possession. It was then that I noticed this on the back of the Fifty Pence piece. Here we have a coin of the realm, on one side as always the head of the monarch and on the reverse either a tribute to 'Beatrix Potter' or Jemima Puddle-Duck one of her characters! These are the coins of the realm with fictional characters on them!
A quick squint online shows some folks might wish to purchase these in time to come so they will rest on my shelf for a while to see if price rises. As nobody is clear as to how many are out there I may be in for a fat profit, possibly a new pound perhaps? But really, children's characters on the coins, what next, Jane Austen's people?
Jemima and her mate did not appear too fussy about being on the back of a coin. Happily settled into the pond in the gardens these two would prefer people not to throw 50p coins to them as they find them hard to digest.
I note Theresa May attended Scotland today to ensure Nicola Sturgeon does as she is told. The few comments noted afterwards indicate intransigent Theresa did not realise that Nicola comes from Ayrshire, I think she knows now. Clearly a second referendum, IndyRef2, is on the way, Theresa by her continual high handed attitudes will ensure a YES vote far more sure than anything the snooty David Cameron could have produced. People fell for the lies last time, they surely can tell the lies this time around. BBC & SKY I note have placed this story reluctantly on their agenda trying to put the Westminster madman as more important even now. Hmmm that tells you much.
Today I had to march against the biting east wind in an almost hot sun to St Paul's for the last of our Monday meets for a while. The knees do not like exercise these days, how come it has come to this? Tomorrow I have a full day at the museum, which means missing my siesta, something that means much to me these days, and assisting with the many 'art lovers' drawn in to hear the talk in the afternoon. Too many folks on holiday at once in my view. I suppose we ought to be glad so many showed up for the 'Oscar Ceremony.'
Oh look, more Council Daffs!

A Walk in the Gardens, Eventually.
Naturally I have been experimenting when not lazing about the floor. I remained closeted indoors today gain filling my empty head with images from the TV of the Tour de France or Motor bike racing. One tired me out, men cycling up hills at twenty miles an hour does this, and the other made me laugh as riders kept crashing off spectacularly and all but one walked away. He was OK I think.
In between I played with the fancy bits on the camera and try as I might could not get this coin to reflect the actual colour. I have never seen this one before, VC on the back of a fifty pence pence but it is dated 2006! I must be slipping, I must read my money better.
This mug was given to me by my niece, the brightest and best looking one. She sent me this to match the teapot sent earlier! One day she sent me a book, 'Grumpy Old Men,' an excellent read I must say but the title is incorrect. She also sent on 'The Oldie' annual, and later 'The Real Dad's Army.' Her husband must take better control of her I say.
Again no matter what I tried I could not catch the actual shade in which sat this bench. Even after fiddling with it there is still no likeness to the original colour. Maybe the camera is faulty...? You do get funny looks when taking pictures of empty benches in the park.
I only sauntered out for ten minutes, walking slowly through the gardens being overtaken by old wives on Zimmer frames and older ones pushing older ones in wheelchairs. Bah! Almost as bad when in the eighties working in London the driver and I were upset to be given an old van to use. We were more upset when overtaken by a walking funeral!
