FIFA Corruption at World Cup 2026.

So there we have it.  Another example of how Fifa have ruined the World Cup, not only by holding it in the USA Trump dictatorship but by also ensuring Argentina will win again.
The Norway v England game shows clearly how the referee, an experienced and capable official, has put his Fifa work before his reputation and the Laws of the game.  From the start it was clear England was to be given aid at all times.
One example is the ball hitting the wire connecting the 'spider' camera.  This is the absurd and needless camera that hangs over the pitch giving an exaggerated wide view of proceedings.  The By-Kick from the Norwegian goalie hit the wire, (though at well past my bedtime I did not notice this) the ball changing direction and aiding the English players.  One of whom then scored an equalising goal.  The VAR review must have noticed this, but nothing was done.  Now, in the ball is a microchip, this ought to record when the ball touches something.  In one game the recording indicated the ball had grazed a forwards hair, playing his colleague offside.  In this game the same chip did not record clearly hitting the wire.  Or so Fifa claim!  Clear bias aiding England.
We must remember, Fifa want the big teams in the final, not the wee teams like Norway.  This brings in more advertising cash, and Fifa want cash, not football success.
Norway scored a very good goal in the second half, yet this was disallowed because of a foul before the corner kick was taken.  The English defender, who's job is to 'block,' the Norway forward, pushes the big man, and in return is pushed back, harder.  Englishman falls to the floor and complains.  ON VAR review, the bought French referee decides a foul occurred and demands a retake of the corner, so no was given.  Clear cheating for England.
The picture above shows players jumping for the ball after it rebounded from the crossbar.  Clearly the English defender has his elbow in the neck of the Norway player.  Penalty surely, but nothing given, no VAR review, and the best team lost.
This has occurred in almost every game, either incompetence from the officials, or deliberate misuse of the Laws to suit the preferred team.  We have seen clear evidence of Argentina, and Lionel Messi in particular being given protection.  He, and his team, have fouled their way through this competition with no corresponding action being taken by the officials.  One ref claimed that at half-time, with the Argies not winning, a call from 'an unnamed source,' warned him that his reputation and career was at stake.  Obviously this continues here.  Money talks, and in the USA it is more important than anything else, certainly under Trump.  There is no need for this.  In 1994 the World Cup was held in the USA without such trouble.  A sensible (comparatively) President, decent stadiums, good fans, the only troubles were the normal football ones, not clear bias aimed at greed for cash.  Such a shame it has been spoiled here.
England progress to the semi-final to meet Argentina.  I can tell you now they will not win as Fifa want France to meet Argentina as more money will arise from this setting.  Half the world will watch the World Cup final, possibly 5 Billion people, in homes, factories, offices, mud huts, caves, shanty towns, and tents, so advertising money will be huge, and the Fifa president wants all he can get.
It is time for a change.
This World Cup means nothing, it is ruined for us all.
Will action be taken?
No.

Fifa Corruption?

Fifa, and their world cups, have always been surrounded by corruption, so it is not unusual to discover such corruption is continuing today.  This year's favourite is of course Argentina. It is likely the corrupt Fifa chairman wishes Messi and company to be in the final in Miami as this will increase the worth of the TV coverage, the adverts that accompany it.  With Messi himself playing well the coverage increases.  Football loses out to corruption again.
Of course Fifa has always been corrupt.
We remember the fuss when previous leaders have sent money, for football development,' to a variety of smaller nations in Asia, West Indies and Africa, which resulted in support for the president of Fifa.  Some people went to jail over this.
During the year 1957 one Stanley Rous became the man in charge.  This Englishman led Fifa for some time.  Coincidentally, during 1958 England were awarded the World Cup for 1966.  A surprise to one and all.  That World Cup saw England play all their games on a plastic pitch, a pitch that opponents grumbled at.  We also saw Portugal, expecting to play the semi-final in Middleborough given 24 hours to change venue to Wembley in London.  Eusabio will remember the bruises he received from one 'Nobby' Stiles that evening.
The final later was also to provide English corruption.
It is difficult to imagine how a Soviet Linesman standing 40 yards from the goal could not see that Geoff Hurts shot had not crossed the line when I, from 400 miles away, could see it had not!  It was also noticeable that the fourth goal was accompanied by an invasion of thugs onto the field, yet play did not stop as it ought.
England won, but corruption won more.
I look forward to the hypocritical whining after Mexico beat England this weekend.

Racism

Sepp Blatter the chief suit at FIFA is in trouble again. Speaking in English he rather made light of racism in football, suggesting that comments made could be dealt with by a 'handshake' afterwards. Whether using English made his meaning unclear or not he walked into one of those lynch mobs that gather so easily these days, especially when 'race' is concerned. 'Outrage' and 'fury' fill the media and an England international has become embroiled in a 'Twitter' exchange with Blatter over this. It seems to me his meaning was not clear but in the UK racist comments at football matches have been more or less removed.  Such is not the case in some other places, eastern Europe for instance gives black players a very hard time, and comments like Blatters brings out the 'easily offended' almost immediately.  Similar response was seen the other day when a sacked 'caddy' of Tiger Woods referred to Woods as a 'black arsehole.'  The media jumped at the chance! Not only was this 'Tiger,' a big name in the world (and one they themselves had roundly abused not that long ago on pages 10.11.12.13.14.15.16 etc) but the caddy used the word 'black.'  'Racism' loudly cried the democratic free world that believes in free speech! (It's not fascism when we do it by the way!) shock, horror, disgraceful!  Both situations produced media outcries, both fill space and allow some to appear disgruntled on television and both were way over the top in my view.

Blatter is a 'suit,' the president of the major football organisation, one renown for the corruption within and around. I doubt he would ever encourage racism in any form, but as a political operator has clearly not done enough to bring it to an end where it does still show.  The caddy, who's name escapes me as he was such an important fellow, had a grudge against his former boss, for whom he worked for many years successfully.  He has a right to be upset, his comment, like Blatters, may have been daft but neither were they racist. Both were small incidents and an apology could have ended it all within minutes.  The media however require a 'storm!'

I indicated to some on an English paper today an item of English racism that constantly arises and is never made into a major fuss by the media.  This time King James the VI & I was described, as he always is in the English press, as King James I.  Clearly had they followed the Guardian take and referred correctly to him as 'King James I of England, their Scottish monarch,' it would have been acceptable.  However this was ignorant English racism that claims him as English and Scotland as part of 'Greater England.'  It is an unconscious thing mostly, but it treats Scotland with contempt and no media ever claims this as wrong!  Indeed the response was arrogant insults, as always! It appears some wrongs are worth shouting about just because the popular mood says so, even if they are minor, other wrongs can be ignored.

England Lose -Shame!

.

So in spite of their natural inbuilt arrogance and demands that the World Cup should, in their words, 'Come Home,' England have failed in their bid to obtain the World Cup after all. Now the papers are full of cries of 'Unfair,' 'What did Putin promise,' 'They promised to vote and din't,'and 'Quatar? I thought that was an airline?' In short they feel cheated and questions are being asked about the organisation of FIFA. Imagine, FIFA being disorganised and full of cheats who break their promises? Who would have thunk it....?

There is no doubt the organisation of football associations world wide is poor. Full of yes men and 'suits' who can emit different lies with all four faces at the same time, and who's concern for the football fan is such that on occasion they have been known to answer letters addressed to them albeit with not actually saying anything within the answer! To expect the offer of a multi million pound World Cup deal, bringing foreign tourists by the thousand, huge advertising offerings, bucksheesh by the bucket-load and a vast advert for your nation, it must be expected that nations will play dirty. Such dirt can only be helped by the secret dealings on offer from FIFA itself. This group of men (Who? How many? Why?) from the four corners of the world are in an enviable position. Whatever deal is done we can never find information regarding it, unless Wikileaks steps in. Backroom deals remain hidden and far too many are known, sorry suspected of involvement in dubious practices already. Panorama recently a programme concerning three members of this committee and their involvement in alleged corrupt practices, Jack Warner, who may one day become president of this organisation, gave tickets to his son who made money from them some years ago it is alleged, and now Russia, with no infrastructure in place, has been given the World Cup! This nation, a dictatorship under Putin with Mafia connections throughout, has been deemed acceptable to FIFA? Was it roubles or Kalashnikovs we are right in asking here? On top of all this the voting is secret and lesser folks, the fans, are rarely allowed to know who votes for who. This surely is wrong? One man did admit, very proudly, which way he had voted some time back, the New Zealand member voted on behalf of the Oceania group and voted for Germany to hold the World Cup in spite of being ordered to vote for South Africa. He refused and gave his casting vote to the Germans as he "Did not wish to see a black nation holding the World Cup." As he was retiring from his post he cared little for anyone and departed with a smug smile on his face. His action almost ensured South Africa was to obtain the Cup in 2010.

Was there corruption in this years bidding? Russia has money and Mafia, Quatar has billions and also no infrastructure. It does have strict Sharia Law which will find Scotsmen drinking and revealing themselves at midday in city centres a new situation to deal with! If the Danes and Irish, Germans, Brazilians and Argies also arrive in numbers it will be an interesting time for the Islamists there! Whether the best decision has been reached is debatable, England certainly could, and I think should, have won, however at least this may lead to changes in the organisation of FIFA, if we bribe them enough!

The Sun managed one of their subtle headlines today concerning the allocation of the World Cup:-

"FIFA BUNGS RUSSIA THE WORLD CUP!"

I suppose it is worth mentioning that cheating, dishonest practice and dubious shenanigans is not and cannot be the 'British' (and I mean 'English') way!
Did I mention however that when England were awarded the World Cup in 1966 Englishman Sir Stanley Rous was President of FIFA! He had taken over from Arthur Drewery, another Englishman! Phew, at least these seasoned Football Association men were honest and cared only for the interest of the game! (Whether this includes England's semi final v Portugal being moved from Middlesbrough to Wembley is not known however?) There would have been no 'bungs' in those days for these well paid individuals!
