FIFA Corruption at World Cup 2026.

So there we have it.  Another example of how Fifa have ruined the World Cup, not only by holding it in the USA Trump dictatorship but by also ensuring Argentina will win again.
The Norway v England game shows clearly how the referee, an experienced and capable official, has put his Fifa work before his reputation and the Laws of the game.  From the start it was clear England was to be given aid at all times.
One example is the ball hitting the wire connecting the 'spider' camera.  This is the absurd and needless camera that hangs over the pitch giving an exaggerated wide view of proceedings.  The By-Kick from the Norwegian goalie hit the wire, (though at well past my bedtime I did not notice this) the ball changing direction and aiding the English players.  One of whom then scored an equalising goal.  The VAR review must have noticed this, but nothing was done.  Now, in the ball is a microchip, this ought to record when the ball touches something.  In one game the recording indicated the ball had grazed a forwards hair, playing his colleague offside.  In this game the same chip did not record clearly hitting the wire.  Or so Fifa claim!  Clear bias aiding England.
We must remember, Fifa want the big teams in the final, not the wee teams like Norway.  This brings in more advertising cash, and Fifa want cash, not football success.
Norway scored a very good goal in the second half, yet this was disallowed because of a foul before the corner kick was taken.  The English defender, who's job is to 'block,' the Norway forward, pushes the big man, and in return is pushed back, harder.  Englishman falls to the floor and complains.  ON VAR review, the bought French referee decides a foul occurred and demands a retake of the corner, so no was given.  Clear cheating for England.
The picture above shows players jumping for the ball after it rebounded from the crossbar.  Clearly the English defender has his elbow in the neck of the Norway player.  Penalty surely, but nothing given, no VAR review, and the best team lost.
This has occurred in almost every game, either incompetence from the officials, or deliberate misuse of the Laws to suit the preferred team.  We have seen clear evidence of Argentina, and Lionel Messi in particular being given protection.  He, and his team, have fouled their way through this competition with no corresponding action being taken by the officials.  One ref claimed that at half-time, with the Argies not winning, a call from 'an unnamed source,' warned him that his reputation and career was at stake.  Obviously this continues here.  Money talks, and in the USA it is more important than anything else, certainly under Trump.  There is no need for this.  In 1994 the World Cup was held in the USA without such trouble.  A sensible (comparatively) President, decent stadiums, good fans, the only troubles were the normal football ones, not clear bias aimed at greed for cash.  Such a shame it has been spoiled here.
England progress to the semi-final to meet Argentina.  I can tell you now they will not win as Fifa want France to meet Argentina as more money will arise from this setting.  Half the world will watch the World Cup final, possibly 5 Billion people, in homes, factories, offices, mud huts, caves, shanty towns, and tents, so advertising money will be huge, and the Fifa president wants all he can get.
It is time for a change.
This World Cup means nothing, it is ruined for us all.
Will action be taken?
No.

Scotland Supports Norway

There is on Twitter one of those interminable debates, began by an arrogant and clearly ignorant Englishman, in which the English demand to know why Scots refuse to support England.  Let's put aside the fact that they are well aware of the reason and restate the obvious to them here.  For over a thousand years England has sought to dominate Scotland.  They failed to do this by force so in 1707 they succeeded by bribery and corruption, something they are indeed good at.

Taking advantage of the economic failure of the 'Darien Expedition,' the English refused to trade with European nations trading with Scotland, closed the Scottish border, bribed the Lairds and threatened their land in England also.  Scotland could have recovered well from Darien, it was not allowed to do so, England then killed Scotland to steal his wealth, and indeed her people.
Edinburgh was dead for 50 years after this, only the 1745 Stewart rebellion caused Westminster to engage with Scotland again, unwillingly.   While the Lairds threw the people off the land and replaced them with more economic sheep, thus forcing many to emigrate to Canada and the USA and also, forcing many men into a 'Scottish Army.'  This of course was under English control, dressed according to English ideas of Highlanders, they then now claimed these men enjoyed being 'British.''   I suppose the Indians, Africans, Egyptians, and others forced into British uniforms enlisted for the sake of the Queen also?  It's better than being shot by them.  Today Scotland watches as Westminster steals her electricity, while charging her higher fees than the English pay, plans to steal her water on the cheap, and plans also to override her devolution Parliament and ignore the wishes of her people.
Yet they say 'Support England?'

All true Scots will support norway tonight as they take on England in the World Cup.  They will also have to take on the biased referee, VAR and the Fifa president.  All Scotland, bar Rangers fans and Tories, will support Norway, from whom many of us are descended anyway.  If the racist colonists win we will not hear the end of it.

I Hate Technology!

I hate technology!
So, I try to log Facebook into another browser as Opera is so slow.
We go through it all well until it says 'verify.'
To verify we have to click on several indistinct pictures of obscure USA settings and find a 'Crosswalk,' whatever that is.  Or a Fire hydrant, or Bus, etc.  Each time I do this it adds another page with similar obscure pictures.  I went through a dozen before giving up, for the third time!
Today I try to place a link on the mobile, it comes down, but to enter in I must receive a call on the mobile with a number.  This means the page where I enter the number is obscured by answering the call.  It then does not understand why I canny get the number on, and refuses to hear my voice.
Which by this time might be wise.
I may try this later, after lunch, or not as the case may be.
AND, as I write, whether on here or on emails, the cursor keeps jumping up and down the page without me touching it.  This leaves sentences appearing in the middle of other sentences.  That is, if the cursor is not at the bottom of the page for no good reason.
Bring back pencil and paper.

Though many of us were asleep, almost 9 Billion people were Belgians last night.  With the arrogant stupidity of Trump, added by the inept crawling of the Fifa president, we saw the USA despised everywhere.
By very stupidly involving himself in something he, and most of the USA fail to understand, he brought misery on the team he thought he was helping.  The red card and accompanying ban on the US player Folarin Balogun ought to have remained.  A one game ban, and he could return to play.  Trump forcing Fifa to reinstate him with a severe twisting of the Laws brought condemnation worldwide.
It also antagonised a Belgian side that had not yet reached their full potential.  Therefore, when the game began they were very much up and ready for the inferior US side.  A total domination, plus US defence weaknesses, saw Belgium win by 4 goals to 1.  A decent score, which pleased the free world and undid all the improvements made by the US side in recent years.
So the free world rejoiced, many joining in the Belgians as they followed their win with a 'Trump dance.'  Justice has been served, Trumps US put in its place.
Balogun himself could have become a hero by refusing to play and take a one game self administered ban.  This could lead to trouble for him, however.  His parents are undocumented immigrants and while he was born in New York it could be ICE might be knocking on their door soon.  Anything he says or does now might lead to problems for his family.
The free world rejoices, and is glad they are not from the US.

The chancer is at it again.
He is standing down as an MP, only to stand once again as a candidate.
A candidate for the people against the establishment!
How many 'people' have been bribed with £5 million Nigel?
How much of that, plus the rest, will be spent in Clacton?
Not a penny.
Once again the liar is pretending he represents the people.  Watch out for cigarettes, beer and photo ops, while pocketing large sums from not being in Clacton, and relying on the stupidity of the white Englishmen in Clacton to re-elect him.
He will also be given a sum for losing the seat I imagine.

It is Almost Here!

It won't be many weeks from now that Scotland, at around midnight, will begin the first game in this year's World Cup.  As always with Scotland cynicism strikes first.  However, we are there, and we may as well make the most of the opportunity.  What will happen?  Will we get through the section?  Will we score a goal?  These questions are being answered by many around the country, usually with absolutely no idea what they are talking about.  But that is football!
I am finding it hard to work up enthusiasm, age, other things in life, and too tired to care too often are hindering my desire.  Of course, I will react to the result, happy to win, sad to lose, angry at referees, angry at the various SFA suits at all levels looking after themselves, not the country.  It was ever thus.
The media attention does not inspire me, the usual quotes, questions, baloney, all go nowhere.  Only major news grabs attention such as a serious injury, or one of Donald Trump's ICE agents attempting to deport one of our players.  Already one non-Scottish player has had his visa refused because of a court case somewhere in Europe, also a Somali referee has had his visa refused.  I suspect many fans paying stupid money to see a game will find themselves banned from entry by the border guards.  Anyone objecting to the child rapist will be banned, and most Scots will have made their position on that clear to all already!
During the 1974 World Cup, (was it held in Germany?) I was desperate to watch every game, even though I was working during the Yugoslav match.  I spent that game at a patients bedside scrubbing his table while we watched the game on the Black & White TV at the far end of the ward.  The table was never so clean again.  Another game I saw in Deacon Brodie's bar in the High Street.  I based myself at the far end and ensured I ordered my second pint just before half-time.  When half-time came all the men ahead of me, and it was all men, turned as one and reached out with their empty glasses towards the barmen.  How many pints were sold at half-time, two at a time possibly to avoid looking away from the game.  However, I canny mind who were playing that day.  I forget the third game, it was a long time ago.
Whatever happens, I just wish to be in a position where I can laugh at all these Englishmen here.

Scotland Will Be Coming

The explosive noise that was recorded very high on the Richter scale last night was nothing more than a nation qualifying for the World Cup in the USA during 2026.  I say USA, but it is also Canada and Mexico who share the expensive competition these days, no longer can one country afford this.
The rejoicing from 5 million Scots was heard around the world.  Here we see the nation that invented the game, developed it from the beginning into the supreme activity it has become, and yet have failed in every attempt to win this trophy, or indeed any other!
Irony!

With less than 3 minutes on the clock this magnificent overhead kick brought Scotland's first goal.  His time in Italy has not been wasted.  The next 90 minutes, plus add-ons, offered a game that went the way I expected.  Lots of good but wasted skill from Denmark, lots of effort and occasional brilliance from the Scots.  I expected a result along the lines of 3-2, though was unsure who would win.  In the end three outstanding goals, plus a well worked corner saw 4 goals hit the net and Scotland qualify for the first time in 28 years.

All the players were outstanding, especially Craig Gordon, who remains on the bench for the Heart of Midlothian, yet produced excellent saves at the right time.  Not bad for a man who is 42 years old.

Mr Shankland scored the second goal not long after half time.  Some foolishly thought the game over then, and how can anyone think the Danes were finished?  Two sides who gave everything, two sides who desperately wanted to qualify, two sides with a lot of similarities in the national nature, two sides desperate to win, yet only one goes through.  It may be the Danes will have a play-off against another second placed side, I did not check this, but they do deserve to be in north America next year.

Many of the players last night would not have been born when Scotland last failed at a world cup.  Even goalkeeper Craig Gordon would only have been 15 or so then.  Of course I myself am only 32...

My first world cup was in 1974, when I worked at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, now of course that is a block of flats.  I recall pretending to clean a table for 45 minutes while Scotland struggled against a country that no longer exists, Yugoslavia!  I stood by that bedside of a man with a broken leg while we watched the distant black and white TV at the far end of the ward.   All was still, bar the occasional groan and utterances, not from physical pain, from the football.  A draw was the result, and none we too happy about that.

Such things do not mean as much now as they did then, I am used to Scotland losing at the big games, but nonetheless when we scored I almost leapt out the window.  I was glad also for the manager Steve Clarke.  He has, in spite of opposition, criticism of tactics, players and his rare smile, taken Scotland to two Euro Tournaments, and now one world cup.  No Scots manager has done this before.  He deserves credit for his man management, his tactics, his team, and his success.  No matter the grumbles, he has been successful, and can now relax for three months.

There are many questions now being asked.  Who will we play?  Where will we play?  And, how many Scots fans will be turned back by the Border Police for slagging off Donald Trump?  Almost all who travel to the USA will have done so, he is not popular in Scotland, nor indeed in any off the other nations represented at this tournament, and I await news of how they will deal with this.
While these questions continue I have only one question, why am I so tired this morning...?

Beware USA, Canada and Mexico, we'll be coming!
