Too Slothful to Post, so.....

Here is a picture of a pretty girl by a window. (1862)

She is reading a book while waiting for the carpet fitter to arrive!

Considering the size of the book, along with how far she had read so far, it looks like it was being quite a wait. At least she had not tossed her hat very far in disgust. A picture of me in a similar situation might have shown a shredded hat!

I love your dress, Adullamite; but you could have ironed it first, don't you think?

Yeah lazy thing, she should be ironing her dress!

Whoa, was that actually a picture of you, my dear Adullamite? GOOD CATCH, my dear Lee!

Jerry, Well she has been there since Monday at 8 when he said he would arrive.

Lee, Two things, a) it is NOT my dress, b) if you had to shove a black iron iron onto a gas ring to heat up before ironing, or at least the skivvy had to do this, then you would not bother either.

Jenny, The things women see as important!!! The skivvy left!

Jerry, I hate you!!!

I would assume that, amongst her peers in 1862, it was, that month, extremely fashionable to have a scrunched dress.

A young lady might have a perfectly pressed dress, and refuse to wear it until it had been roughly bundled, and sat upon for a while.

This would send some message, to a very few like minded folk, but be impenetrably obscure in reason to the rest of us.

I'll bet she isn't really reading that book, just defacing the pictures, and scribbling rude words in the margins.

The carpet-fitter? He's running around the ornamental gardens, screaming, and trying to avoid being ripped to shreds by Papa's bull-mastiffs.

Soub, Indeed I am surprised the lassies didn't realise this before. Fashion and all that. It takes a man to think of reasons I suppose...
