I wish my mother would have the internet...she would love this. She was stationed at Winchester in the first part of the war, and that was her journey when she had leave...up to Waterloo.
She always loved the town....but over the years nearly all the areas she knew have been given over to the hand of the developer...even the barracks where she served.
This clip would have brought back happy memories for her.
I have been in and around Winchester many times, but I don't remember the northern Virginia countryside around the town looking quite like it does in that clip. Of course, some consideration should be given to just how long ago that film was made.
Those British transport films were so nice. I wish they made them now - modern ones, I mean. I would love to own that van advertising Lyons Swiss Rolls! I used to use Waterloo station a lot as a child, when it looked rather like that.

Helen, Mothers are a pain like that. Mine could have used the web, but she rejected the idea stoutly! I miss her mind.
Jerry, You Yank you!!! Typical Mid west approach!
Jenny, BTF were marvellous! I love them, even if slightly dated.....
