Proper Music Friday

Those amongst you daft enough to read Fishawks blog will notice that he is going through one of those music less periods.  The time when all musical taste flies out the window and a surfeit of cowboy movies that he was reared on begin to bear fruit with the softening of his brain.  Therefore I decided to fill my head with proper music for a change and via YouTube I have brightened and enlightened the world by listening to the worlds greatest rock band - The Beatles!  Only a sad wretch would be unable to comprehend the talent shown by these men.  Only a tone deaf individual could fail to be stimulated by such marvels.  Note that no cowboy hats were worn during the making of this music!

Isn't that just fabulous?

Eric Clapton on guitar here.

Now who could fail to enjoy these great musical moments?

Yes, I must admit that a lot of truly great music has come from ENGLAND, with The Beatles being my all-time favorite ENGLISH group. (By the way, I used to love drinking daft beer back in the day. Not Guinness, though. No, never coal tar-tasting Guinness.)

For a different perspective...

Dick Rowe head of Decca Records said of the Beatles in 1962, "Guitar groups are on the way out...the Beatles have no future in show business."

"The Beatles are not merely awful, I would consider it sacreligious to say anything less than that they are godawful. They are so unbelievably horrible, so appallingly unmusical, so dogmatically insensitive to the magic of the art, that they qualify as crowned heads of anti-music." - William F. Buckley, author and commentator - 1964

And of course James Bond in "Goldfnger" 1964 - "Drinking Dom Perignon '53 above the temperature of 38 degrees" is "as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs."

Fish, I admit these lads did come from engerlandshire but some had Irish blood in them! Guinness comes from Ireland of course, and is very enjoyable.

Leaz, Ah yes indeed. The Beatles did a tour of the highlands of Scotland and some thought they were 'ordinary.' The next time they arrived the promoter, who had paid £% a night for their appearance was charged £500. He wondered if this was worth it and advertised the show, in Dundee, early to sell tickets. At three in the morning on the day the advert appeared he received a call from the police. "Get down to your office now, there are several thousand kids trying to break in and get tickets!" 'He coined the phrase 'Beatlemania that night!
Elvis was of course to "Stick to driving a truck son, the days of a guitar man are over," by one music company.

RDG, Of course you do!

Mike, you rebel you!

Beatles are proper music indeed. Finally agree.

But, as a Scotsman, I'm sure you'll appreciate the fact that Elvis didn't have to divide his income by 4 and share.
