One never ceases to wonder at some of the wonders of the world. And all those magnificent old buildings are wonders. The wonders created by Man when he is in a constructive frame of mind rather than a destructive frame of mind.
This video sure seems to have been produced for those under the age of 10, which is the way it was with the Khan Academy videos I have watched on computer programming/coding. I wonder if all of the Khan Academy material is as such, but it would still hold helpful information for all ages. Although, I do not like how they equated religion with cultism in this video. Of course, I suppose it is all in the eyes of the beholder, and if one does not acknowledge the legitimacy of a particular religion, it would be a cult to them. Whoa, were they sneaking in a very sophisticated point against religion for those of an impressionable age to absorb? On the other hand, anyone who truly has a very close and personal relationship with our Heavenly Father has moved way past religion.
Lee, That's one way of looking at it. However much of it was built on arrogance and greed, the Romans took what they wished, and much slavery was involved in the building. It is not the buildings that count but the morals.
Jerry, It is aimed at Americans so it has to be simple..... It was good in that having seen maps it is difficult to get the image of what the city looked like when alive. Like today they rejected Christianity as a cult and would have continued doing so had Constantine not got involved.
When I was in Junior School we had a history book with a foldout page which showed Rome as it was thought to be in the first century A.D. - a map and boxes showing the major buildings with arrows pointing to their position. Now they have videos...
