One of the UK's best comedians, famous for his radio then TV shows in the 1950's.
'The Blood Donor' was one of his best! Made even better as having been injured in a road accident he had no time to learn the script. He therefore read the script off 'idiot boards,' throughout.

That episode was/is one of the funniest Hancock ever did. I still remember the night I first saw that episode...,
I almost never fail to remember it when mention is made of blood donors/donations.
I am going to save this video for when the house is quiet...no men, dogs or lambs... so that I can enjoy it in peace. It is unforgettable...but I had had no idea that he was reading the script as he went along...
Tony Hancock was a genius -a bit like yourself, Mr H. I preferred his radio shows, mind.
I agree with Mike, the radio shows were better. But the man was brilliant. A great pity that he was driven to suicide.
Lee, Super stuff! Those with him were also good.
Fly, One of his drink problems came from anxiety about learning scripts for TV. On radio he read it straight off. After this he never learnt another script, always using boards I believe.
When will your house be quiet....?
Mike, Radio was good, and four of them were involved.
BP, I think the radio paints pictures in the head that TV does not allow. That's the difference.
BRILLIANT!
