Adull's Sunday Night Pub Quiz.

All right it's not much of a quiz, but there again it's not much of a pub!  In fact had it not been reduced for quick sale it would have been the 'Tea Garden Quiz!'  Six simple questions, requiring six simple answers just so someone who will be nameless (but lives in Mexico) can get them all right without cheating.

1) The first British 'Prime Minister,' what was his name?

2) Name Australia's capital city?

3) Who was it that first discovered how to make 'frozen food?'

4)  In what town was Leonardo da Vinci born?

5)  George Best was a famous footballer.  With which team did he make his name?

6)  Who starred in Hitchcock's 'North by Northwest?'

Six simple questions to test your intellectual strength.

Answers later.

1. I don't think you had one officially until Edward VII, I read somewhere. But everyone always says the first one was that Tadpole guy. Can't think of his first name.
2. Melbourne?
3. Probably the Eskimos discovered frozen food a zillion years ago. But I would guess you are talking about that Birdseye guy that had his company in Grimsby. Only he was an American so that can't be right. Sorry. Drawing a blank then.
4. Florence. Guessing.
5. I only know one team in England and that's Manchester. Someone said they had two teams though. Going with United.
6. Eva Marie Saint and Archibald Leach. I know my movies.

Max,
1) You are indeed right and wrong but close.
Walpole was indeed called the first Prime Minister! However this was used as an insult not a title. Not until the early 20th century did it become the official title, although Walpole is still called the First!

2) Tsk! Canberra.

3) Clarence Birdseye is indeed the man. he copied the idea from eskimos!

4) he was born in the town of VINCI. Trick question eh?

5) Correct, Manchester United. Gosh!

6) Cary Grant, or Archibald leach is acceptable, was the man involved!

Well done that man. Almost four out of six. Far better than the others that's for sure!

Mike, Actually he made a name for himself their also, the polis records say so.

RDG, You are no moron!

Mametz, You don't like United? tsk! Aussies have a capital in each state and territory. Canberra rules all.

Aye, I remember Georgie's time at Hibs, as do the local off licenses. His name was well worn by then though...

I'm a bit late but I havent read anyone else's answers, which is just as well as I don't suppose they are like mine.
My answers are:
1) I don't know. And that's a bit shocking come to think of it
2) Canberra, one of those cities like Ottawa that's a capital but not much happens there, still the residents all say it is a nice place to live.
3.) Must have been Mr. Bird, of Bird's Eye fame. Though why he named his product after his eyes, I can not guess.
4) Don't know.
5) Don't know.
6) Don't know.

Don't all rush to sign me up for your pub quiz team!

Jenny,
1)Walpole is considered the first but he was called this as an insult by his enemies. It was not until the 20th century the position became 'actual.'

2) Canberra is correct.

3) Clarence Birdseye, but how did he get the name????

4) Vinci, cheeky question.

5) Man U. Always a good guess.

6) Cary Grant.

The others were too dumb to succeed, you did well.
