Football,

Then strip, lads! and to it though sharp be the weather,
And if by mischance you should happen to fall,
There are worse things in life than a tumble in heather,
And life is itself but a game of football.

Sir Walter Scott

I'm watching football, for a change...

I've often wonder what tumble in the heather would have been like...not with Heather, of course!

You've now sent me hunting for a book of memoirs of life in Galloway just after the war where local summer football on variable pitches seemed to partake of the nature of combat as much as sport.

Lee, I think you may have misunderstood.....

Fly, Football in the south west is still not for folks such as me!

Ah yes, viral young lads frolicing on the pitch in very short pants. Is this why it is called the beautiful game?

Jerry, is the wife not treating you well...?

Must dig out a poem by Harri Webb for you....!!

My (teacher) father always said that when the football came though the door, the brains went out through the window.
