When I was a child I loved to walk up the long road from our house to see what the postman left us. Letters- yes REAL mail was always anticipated with great longing and excitement. Sadly, these days, I go too long without checking the post. A box full of junk mail and catalogs and the ever prescient bills to pay.
I miss those letter writing days of old ... but like most people, I'm now hooked on the almost instant response of email or pick up the phone and call. Sigh. Great pic.
Now we have a postie at work who's too lazy to get out of his van. I kid you not. He leans on the horn until somebody comes out with the outgoing postbag, then he hands over a bundle of mail for several different tenants, If anybody official from the postie office knew, I bet he'd lose his job.
The old postie knew everyone and delivered individually to every unit or letterbox, with a smile. He was in an accident, about two months ago. And people miss him.

That looks like the Dalkeith postie circa 1945. The mail was delivered last Thursday...
RDG, I miss being a postman but I always found that 80 percent was 'junk.'
Mike, Is that your hoose in the background?
Whoa, you were downright skinny back then!
Jerry, There has been a 'slight' change I admit....

Soub, He would not lose his job but might at least get a row. Complain politely and another may get his round.
