The one thing one learns really quickly living in England is how much the rest of the world hates the English, particularly the non-English members of the so called United Kingdom.
Its a shame really, because most of the English I know are actually really quite nice.
However you have not been subject to a thousand years of oppression! We have! Even today a quick look at TV or Radio show all is concerned with England and the rest are add-ons! The English are of course reasonable enough, but underneath is an arrogance that comes to the fore periodically. They still believe they ought to rule the world. The imperialist lingers on, and not just in UKIP or the Tory ranks.
Now as you know I am not one to complain, but I notice it.....
