Lee, ...Fly, Clip cancelled? Too late and it hurt!

Lee, You are right about MASH! As the Aussies were heavily involved, at least one VC among them, I realise they would not forget. It's people like youself who make the internet much more interesting than a magazine.

I never knew of the Gardyloo, a little ship named with great humour, nor the Bovril Boats.

As a kid, I stayed several times at my dad's friend's house, just outside of Grangemouth, and was spell bound by the romance of ships, these vessels that came and went, to and from the unknown mysteries of the great oceans. "Hear us when we cry to thee, for those in peril on the sea", we'd sing in church.

Little did I know then about the tasks and cargo of the Gardyloo.

I would, had I known, have absolutely grabbed at the chance to sail for free out to the Bell Rock, despite the cargo.
Evil stink though it was.

So you were a hospital orderly?
The fingers story, well I remember waiting in accident and energency, with broken bones, and a bloody man in overalls being led in, with a plastic bag full of fingers.
One of the nurses said he'd been working in the hospital's generator room, adjusting a drive belt, when someone else blipped the starter button.
I'll never forget his white face, and the bloody, oily rag wrapped around his fist.
Consequently, I take to heart all warnings to physically block rotating machinery I'm working on, isolating power supplies, making sure the fuses are in my pocket, and a padlock is through the start lever.
Brrr.
I worked with rehabilitation therapists in Iceland, helping people to regain their confidence after devastating injury, stroke, etc.
I think I'd like to do that again.
soubriquethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01151288534629885195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16539163.post-9839925193307637972013-07-27T18:40:55.838+01:002013-07-27T18:40:55.838+01:00Well done.Well done.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16349087080262856079noreply@blogger.com
